WA (96-99) Vinous 94 Pts - According to Wine Advocate - Coming from Bill and Liz Armstrong's Paderewski Vineyard on the southwest side of Paso, the 2013 Paderewski Vineyard is a blend of 34% Mourvèdre, 33% Zinfandel, 13% Petite Sirah, 12% Syrah and 8% Tempranillo, and is the first time Mourvedre (which is a variety Justin is more and more excited about) has trumped Zinfandel in the blend. It offers sensational notes of Bing cherries, blueberries, peppery herbs and lots of chalky minerality, full-bodied richness and a sexy, seamless and ethereal texture that carries plenty of building tannin. I underlined "Awesome Texture" three times in my note. Given the tannin, give it a year or so after release and enjoy bottles through 2025.
According to Josh Raynolds - Bright violet color. The nose displays a complex array of black and blue fruit and floral scents, along with suggestions of incense, mocha and licorice. Stains the palate with powerful blueberry and violet pastille flavors sharpened and lifted by juicy acidity. Concentrated, sappy and pure, finishing with outstanding thrust and smooth tannins that are overwhelmed by the wine's dense fruit. 15.9% ABV.
