SEMPE is one of the most well-known Armagnac merchant houses. It was founded in 1934 by Abel SEMPÉ, a relentless Gascon serving his country and region. He was a recognised member of the resistance in the Armagnac battalion and then senator for the Gers for many years. Our eaux de vie come mainly from the Lower Armagnac, the most renowned area, covering part of the Gers and the neighbouring Landes. Selected white wines preferably have a low alcohol content and are distilled once only between 53° and 65°. Distillation takes place as soon as the fermentation process ends to obtain aromatic and complex eaux de vie, suitable for ageing in wood barrels. The reputation of our Armagnacs is part of a tradition followed by our cellar masters and distillers. The right acidity of wines, gentle and harmonious heating of the still, a perfect oak cask and grilled hint. These elements guarantee fine, smooth and well-rounded eaux de vie without losing sight of the terroir and its unique character. Balance and finish characterise our Armagnacs. SEMPE’s golden rule: the pleasure of sharing. This philosophy is both simple and demanding. It has been the brand’s driving force since 1934.
