Hand-selected Zinfandel field blend that uses native yeast, 23-day fermentation and maceration. The fruit is pressed and barreled down before native malolactic fermentation. Aging on lees in neutral oak barrels occurs for seven months. A unique blend of grape varietals from a heritage vineyard, half planted 125 years ago and the other half 65 years ago.
Legendary winemaker David Ramey started his career in wine with little more than a degree in enology and a dream. After nearly two decades of creating benchmark wines for such California wineries as Matanzas Creek, Chalk Hill, Dominus and Rudd, David Ramey and his wife Carla founded Ramey Wine Cellars in 1996. David’s wines are made in an old-world style and are consistently rated among the best wines in California. Today, David and Carla very much still run a family business. As their children take on roles within the company, the Rameys wish to expand the family’s legacy to reflect the significance of its future generation of winemaking and consumers. Thus, Sidebar Cellars was founded, with daughter, Claire, at the helm. Sidebar currently offers Kerner from Lodi’s Mokelumne River area, Lake County Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé made from Russian River Valley old-vine Syrah.
