Grapes were hand harvested from the esteemed Casale del Bosco estate and totally destemmed, followed by a brief, cold prefermentation maceration. Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks with skin contact takes 10-15 days, depending on parcel, at controlled temperature of less than 86°F. Aging in used casks of various sizes for 6 months is followed by an additional 4 months in bottle.
Tasting Panel2014 vintage
A very wet winter during which temperatures were well above average. There was no frost and not even any snow. Spring began with a March characterized by average rainfall for the time of year and temperatures above average once again. The vegetative phase began in April. This month was characterized by rain. The plants flourished considerably despite the low temperatures and the blossoming phase began at the end of May. June and July were characterized by alternating rain and good weather. August was characterized by very little rain. The first ten days of September were characterized by rainfall. Late September brought some beautiful days. The first harvesting of the Sangiovese took place from the 24th to the 27th of September. The first twelve days of October were characterized by the same seasonal trend as late September, with sunny days and temperatures above average for the time of year. This enabled to harvest grapes with rich levels of acidity, guaranteeing a medium good quality vintage.
Vinous red color, characteristic aromas of fresh red fruit. A good tannic structure in the mouth and an excellent acidic framework. A wine with good persistence in the mouth.
