According to Wine Spectator - Tomato leaf and bell pepper notes lead the way in this moderate red, with hints of black currant, ground anise and espresso. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Drink now through 2016.
According to Antonio Galloni - The 2009 Terre di San Leonardo is a solid value from one of the most venerable properties in northern Italy. Plump, juicy and expressive, the 2009 bursts from the glass with ripe dark fruit, spices, licorice and earthiness. Wilder, brettier notes develop as the wine sits in the glass that may bother some tasters more than others. The Terre di San Leonardo is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Carmenere.
Tasting Notes - Brilliant ruby in color, the bouquet is ample and quite persistent, showing aromas of ripe plums on a lightly herbaceous background. Mellow, round and well balanced on the palate with pleasingly bitterish finish, decided elegance and persistence. 13.5% ABV.
