Fume and Sauvignon Blanc

Fume and Sauvignon Blanc

After the arrival of Sauvignon Blanc to the United States, it commonly used as an inexpensive sweet wine to fill the thirsts of the average sweet-toothed American. Eventually, Robert Mondavi took the varietal and created a quality, sweet wine and then a dry-style wine. He decided, that using the regular “Sauvignon Blanc” name would not denote the change in quality or style, so he named the new wine, “Fume.”
