Gewurztraminer

Gewurztraminer

Commonly compared to Moscato, the most notable differences are the higher alcohol levels, lower acidity and stronger aromas. Higher-end Gewürztraminer will have more complex aromatics. Though this does not mean the grape will always produce sweet wines, it will seem sweeter due to the aromas, low acidity and high alcohol levels. Gewürztraminer is a pink grape originating from the Foothills of the Alps, but later spreading to wine producers like Italy, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, France and Slovenia. Gewürztraminer is one of the 18 noble grape varietals, tasting of ginger and honey and ranging from off-dry to sweet.
