South African White
New World wine producers like South Africa often have shorter history and warmer climates than Old World wine producers in Europe. Though, despite being called New World, South Africa has been into making wines since the 1600’s. Wines from South Africa are known to hover between the realm of New World and Old World style. These wines smell fruity but tend to taste earthy. The Western Cape’s oceanic breeze helps the grapes keep their acidity. Africa also has its own system of classification called, Wines of Origin, which helps determine quality and grape varietal content.
