  • Chateau Belgrave, Haut-Medoc 2010 5ème Cru Classé
Robert Parker 93 Pts. -Château Belgrave, classed as a 5ème Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, was a run-down property producing fairly mediocre wines until 1980. Salvation came in the form of the Bordeaux firm, Dourthe, which bought Belgrave and immediately renovated the cuverie and cellars, as well as extensively replanting the vineyards. By the mid 80s, cult oenologist Michel Rolland was consulting and the subsequent rise in quality has been meteoric. Belgrave is situated in Saint-Laurent, which is just outside the St-Julien appellation, and there are 55 hectares of vineyards, planted with Cabernet-Sauvignon (40%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Petit Verdot (5%). The wine is matured in oak barriques, 50% new, for between 15 and 18 months. Belgrave produces sleek, stylish and harmonious clarets that, while difficult to resist when young, amply reward cellaring for up to 10 years.

  • Chateau Lanessan 2011 Haut-Medoc Cru Bourgeois
Domaines Bouteiller lies in the commune de Cussac-Fort Médoc, in the heart of the Haut-Médoc, and consists of three internationally known estates, Château Lanessan, Château Lachesnaye and Château de Sainte Gemme. Domaines Bouteiller extends over 380 hectares on the outskirts of the village of Saint Julien and on the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée Haut-Médoc 'terroir' and includes 80 hectares of vines, most of which are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, though Château Lanessan has some Cabernet Franc and Petit-Verdot. The vines need special care throughout the year through pruning and "sécaillage", or "tying up", which add to the quality and typicity of Domaines Bouteiller wines. Every stage of winemaking takes place in the winery and the ageing cellars. Here, we carry out all the tasks required to produce a vintage wine – harvest, vinification, blending and bottling – with all the care that the "new-born infant" requires.

  • Chateau Argadens Bordeaux Superieur Rouge 2012

Critical Acclaim: Concours de Bordeaux 2015 Gold Medal

After 12 months in oak barrels, Argadens red is thoroughly modern Bordeaux with lots of concentrated fruit and an attractive, supple balance. Not surprisingly, it gets consistently high marks in tastings and competitions. Covering 45 hectares of clay-limestone soil in a single plot, Argadens is superbly well situated on one of the highest hills of the rolling Entre-Deux-Mers wine region (one of the five highest points, in fact, of the Gironde). The vineyard is thus extremely well drained and extremely well exposed to the sun and the air. The date of harvesting is determined plot by plot, according to how the grapes taste, and picking by hand means that only the best berries are selected. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature controlled 210hl stainless steel vats. Post fermentation maceration and the malolactic fermentation are also done in vat. Once the wines have been pressed (pneumatic press), they are put into French oak barrels (25% of which are new) for 12 to 14 months and racked frequently.

63% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc
