  • Michele Chiarlo Barolo Tortoniano 2011
Piedmont Italy, Winemaker Notes - The wine shows layered aromas of mint, fennel, plum and spices, rich red currant flavors, with rose petal. On the palate the acidity is balanced and the tannins are silky, leading to a long finish.
  • Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2011
Deep red-black color with an intense, soaring perfume of strawberry, red cherries, rose petals and violets. In the mouth, this is very concentrated and intense but possesses good balance and structure, all framed by layers of red and black fruits. Great mid-palate presence, with less of the licorice but more of the floral aspects that Nebbiolo reveals. The ripe tannins will require a bit of patience but it is hard to resist this wine now. Good balance and a precise balance of oak give this wine a long sweet finish.
  • Elvio Cogno Barolo Ravera 2011
Piedmont Italy, DOCG - Brilliant garnet-red in colour with orange highlights. Firm, elegant and potent on the nose, it has scents of dog rose, mint and tobacco, scents which meld in the course of time into spice, coffee, liquorice, truffle, leather and minerals. A full-bodied, rounded bouquet of great structure and balance, redolent of plum jam and withered brambles. The persistent chocolaty aftertaste is harmonious and enticing. Over the years it gradually refines its characteristics to achieve classic elegance and composure. Goes well with braised meats, stewed game, roasts and mature cheeses such as pecorino and Parmigiano Reggiano.
