Wine Enthusiast Review
Rated 96
EDITORS CHOICE
In 2018 the estate didn't make its cru-specific bottlings so the best grapes are in this straight Barolo. And it shows. It opens with heady scents of eucalyptus, pine forest, hay, new leather and lilac. Extremely elegant, the savory, vibrant palate exhibits red cherry, juniper berry and star anise set against taut, refined tannins and bright acidity. Drink 2024-2033.
Wine Tasting Notes
Massolino Barolo DOCG shows garnet red color with variable intensity depending on the vintage. The grapes come from different sub-zones in Serralunga and this gives them a broad and variable spectrum of perfumes, ranging from tempting spicy notes to those of a sweeter, floral, and fruity nature. A variety of sensations, with a full-bodied, classic and well structured wine which ages well and perfectly represents the important character of our land.
Food Pairings
It achieves its best expression when served with red meats, particularly game, and with dishes dressed with truffle. It is also excellent with fresh egg pasta and meat sauce, and with risotto, as well as medium-mature cow's milk and goat's milk cheeses.
100% Nebbiolo
Alcohol 14.5%
