Ripe blue fruit and spiced cedar unite with a fine acid structure in this broad-shouldered red, which also shows notes of cured meat, chervil, oregano, and heather plus a dollop of blackberry preserves on the finish. We like the producer's description of the blend: 80% Zinfandel, 10% late harvest Zinfandel, and 10% "Not Gonna Tell Ya." Also on the tech sheet: "The distinctive label pays homage to both the Italian roots of the Zinfandel grape as well as our love of mobster movies, having been inspired by a scene in The Godfather in which Michael Corleone is [lying] low in Italy."

Wine Tasting Notes
This Badgerhound Sonoma Red Blend is tenacious and sweet with a blackberry character supported by vanilla bean and earthy notes. This is a spicy blend, with notes of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spice and cocoa powder to lead your palate down the path to happiness. This fruit monster then brings black currant, black raspberry, blueberry jam and elderberry to the party. This hound may be big, but it's graceful. Rich in color, nuance, and distinction, every sip is truly a one-of-a-kind!
