The Mellots have established themselves as a prominent presence in winemaking in the Loire Valley since 1513. Notably, Joseph Mellot stands as the sole estate that possesses vineyards in each of its appellations. Under the guidance of Catherine Corbeau Mellot, the estate has now embraced a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

Nestled amidst calcareous clay soils surrounding the hill of Sancerre, the Domaine des Chaintres spans across approximately five hectares, which are further divided into numerous small plots. The grapes undergo a gentle crushing process, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures. Subsequently, the wine is aged on its fine lees.
