Shatter by Charles Bieler & Joel Gott Vins de Pay des Cotes Catalanes Grenache is an inky black Grenache with aromas and flavors of black currant, black cherries, spice, and cured meats, complemented by subtle coffee notes from low-toast barrels. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, framed by fine-grained tannins, underlying minerality, and the distinctive iron-rich schist character of Maury soils. Well-balanced despite its richness, this wine offers depth, structure, and a lingering, cohesive finish.

Description
James Suckling Review Rated 93 A serious wine thats deep in dark fruit, full in body and drenched in fine-grained tannins. Black cherries, blackberries, black pepper and star anise fill the palate and linger on the finish. High in alcohol and ripeness, yet well balanced due to the tannic structure. Drink or hold.
Wine Tasting Notes nky black in color, the Shatter by Charles Bieler & Joel Gott Vins de Pay des Cotes Catalanes Grenache has flavors and aromas dominated by black current, spice and cured meats with a touch of coffee from low toast barrels. There's an underlying minerality throughout with the distinct iron quality that schist delivers. The palate is pure and powerful, but has structure and a cohesive backbone.
The label helps give the wine a sense of place, emphasizing the unique black schist soil of Maury, which is what makes the wines in this region so particular. In each case, there are 3 different close-up photos (4 of each per case) of the black schist rock that Grenache struggles to grow out of. As we note on the back label, "a blood from a stone, if ever there was".
