Description
Jeb Dunnuck Review Rated 96 The flagship from the estate, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Double Eagle is all varietal that spent 18 months in 75% new French oak. This ruby/purple-hued (mostly opaque) beauty offers up a terrific nose of pure cassis and darker, blue-tinged fruits as well as sweet tobacco, graphite, espresso, and toasty oak. Pure, full-bodied, and concentrated, it stays straight and focused on the palate, has plenty of mid-palate depth and richness, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It's a step up over the 2018 and a gorgeous Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to enjoy over the coming 15+ years. Maturity 2023-2039.
Wine Enthusiast Review Rated 95 Spicy, funky aromas of earth and tobacco draw you into this concentrated, complex and saturated wine before deep blueberry, dark chocolate and blackberry flavors unfold and fill the mouth. Aged in 75% new French barrels, the intriguing oak nuances merge nicely with the indulgent fruit components. Best through 2030.
Wine Tasting Notes profoundly complex and deftly structured wine, the Double Eagle by Grieve Family Napa Cabernet is an exquisitely age-worthy expression of the select vineyard blocks that are its provenance. It opens with vibrant bramble berry and forest floor notes with a hint of graphite. The expansive dark-berry palate offers mouthfilling richness framed by fine-grained tannins, with a lovely acidic tension that adds energy to the long, persistent finish. Enjoy upon release or cellar for up to 20 years.
